Best Tips for Making Mirrors Spotless

Any accessory in the house would look its best when it is spotless. It is a necessary routine to take care and maintain everything so they will be in top shape.  Home owners take time and resources to look for the right fit of furniture in their home.  It would be practical to look after them and keep them in good condition so they would last longer and get their money’s worth.

Especially when there is a frame, mirrors should be handled with great care.  Here are some tips for maintaining your mirrors in a great condition.

Use lint-free cloth

Either using just water or a cleaning liquid, spray it onto the lint-free cloth and wipe down the mirror.  Avoid directly spraying onto the mirror as the surrounding frame might be affected by the chemical.  This is to preserve the frame’s quality.  Depending on the type of frame, we can use a duster or a damp cloth to quickly take off the dust around the frame.

After that, use a dry lint-free cloth to wipe so as to remove any streaks from using the wet cloth.  This will leave it spotless and no liquid marks as we are not letting any liquid dry up onto the mirror itself.

An option for a cleaning liquid

According to Build.com.au, a solution of one part white vinegar to six parts water in a spray bottle is very useful for cleaning mirrors.  This option is an inexpensive way of getting an effective cleaning liquid for the household.  If you’re concerned about the smell of the vinegar, it will go away quickly. A faster way is just use an air freshener or a scented candle to fill your room with your favourite scent.

Do spot-cleaning

Especially for bathroom mirrors, this is very useful.  Using rubbing alcohol and a cotton pad, as Cleanmyspace.com’s secret, spot-clean any visible smudges, or thick build-up.  Alcohol will dry up quickly so there’s no streaks left behind.

Motion of wiping

There are two ways:

  1. Clean the mirror using circular motion as it does not leave any streak marks after wiping.
  2. Making a left to right pattern starting from the top most corner, and then slowly going down until you’ve reached the bottom corners. This is a sure way that all the spaces have been wiped down.

Of course, it does not hurt to use one technique after the other.

Our aim is to have a spotless, smudge and streak-free mirror that continues to beautify our room.  Making the mirrors well-polished would definitely magnify its functionality and add a dazzling effect.   Once you’ve finished polishing, step back and admire the masterpiece that sparkles your space.
